(For Uncle Bola)

Tell me not of palaces and mansions
Tempt me not with jewels and fashions
Away with all the vain boast of wealth
For there is no glitter in all ill-gotten wealth In this vast weird earth
Many have strayed in quest of wealth
And finding treasures it proved a sorry one
Its taste lost; for God, no achievement won. A good name is found in honest striving
To live, and let others live
In every noble deeds or sacrificing
Done in good faith for others to relive All wealth with dishonesty in its letter
Will fall to the ground, sooner or later.
To the dishonest, Death is a terror
But to the righteous, it brings honour. What other vain needs we see in greed?
That the past generation failed to breed.
What greater glory we need to emulate
Than the immortal name of our hero, late.
