A Blind’s Plight

Joel Audu

Denizen of the road
Her sight unveils city’s unfairness
Forster tracks untraceable
Heads port traffic light last resort
Groping for life’s rights
Amidst cars lurks
Halted by lights trafficking
A wild specie functioning
At the rush hour trails her preys
Sniffing through smoky pipes
Sightless! Instinctively sees all
Passersby bye-passing
In songs she prays with fanglike voice
Pouncing on preys
This blind Phil-harmonic opera
Just a local tambourine for harmony
Pleading for pledges sonorously

Arms outstretched groping for donors
Hoping for favours
In this rush-hour disillusion?
Commuters to and fro rushing
To build naira castles
Plying her port
A straight face comport
Out of greedy discomforts
Only a few pay dues
On this daily stipend
She depends pending
Her end.
