We are gone
yes we are gone
for deep in my heart
i searched for us
and did not see
for the curtain was drawn
yet i tried to look beyond the veil
content in the past that lay behind yes my eyes misted
For it had to
all it had missed all this while
now ghosts hover over
the trenches we dug
now we bask in open
chivalrously in rivalry. yes we are gone
beyond the vestiges of friendship
across to the land of hatred
now our love stares in unbelief
at the open mockery and scorn
we made of it yes we are gone!
